If you have created search profiles, then the main page contains the list of All New papers that have been found in PubMed within the past 7 days. Profiles are updated on a nightly basis, so new items added to PubMed should appear in your profiles within 24 hours. To view the relevant papers found grouped by Profile theme, then click on the link in the left-hand column. The left-hand column also links you to Papers on hold (which contains any papers or evaluations that you've put on hold) and Deleted Papers (any papers that you've deleted).

On the basis of the search profiles you've designed (for help see Setting up search profiles), we will identify relevant papers that you may want to consider for your selection of papers each month. The papers will be listed within the thematic search profiles you've named; next to each search profile, we indicate in brackets the number of papers found for that profile.

If you click on one of the profiles, you will be presented with a list of papers. For each paper suggested, you have three options: you can select the paper for evaluation ("Evaluate now"; see Making an evaluation), or put it on hold (see Papers on hold below), or delete it (see Deleted Papers below).

We will indicate newly suggested papers with a "New" icon. Papers will remain in your search profile until they are 60 days old (based on the date they were entered in PubMed) before we remove them unless you put them on Hold (if a paper is about to be removed, you will notice a "Clock" icon next to it).

If you feel you are receiving too few or too many suggestions for a profile, then you can modify the details you provided. This link also allows you to set up new profiles.

You can use this page to earmark papers in the Profiles list that caught your attention and warrant further investigation. You can either click on the "Continue evaluation" button, which will bring you straight to the evaluation page, or click on the button next to Delete, which will be activated only when you click on the "Delete checked items" icon either at the top or at the bottom of the page.

We will keep papers you've deleted until they are 60 days old, in case you made a mistake. If you want to retrieve a paper you've deleted by mistake, you have two options: you can put it in Hold or you can evaluate it (by clicking on "Evaluate Now").
